National Apprenticeship Week 2025 celebrates the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, businesses, and the wider economy. This year’s theme, ‘Skills For Life’, highlights how apprenticeships provide lasting benefits, helping people build careers, gain practical experience, and develop expertise that stays with them for life.
At Millbank, we see the power of apprenticeships every day. As a leading recruitment company, we not only place candidates in exciting career opportunities but also invest in apprenticeships within our own team. We work closely with Recruitment Juice, a leading provider of apprenticeship training, to ensure our apprentices receive high-quality education alongside real-world experience.
A great example of the impact of apprenticeships can be seen in our very own team. Zoe is currently completing her Level 3 Recruitment Consultant Apprenticeship, gaining hands-on experience in the recruitment industry while learning best practices from experienced professionals. Whilst Hywel and Josh are both working towards their Operations or Departmental Manager Level 5 Apprenticeships, developing their leadership skills to support the continued success of Millbank. Their journeys prove that apprenticeships are not just an entry point into an industry but a pathway for career development and long-term progression.
Despite the clear benefits of apprenticeships, misconceptions still exist.
Many believe apprenticeships are only for young people, but in reality, they are open to individuals of all ages looking to gain new skills or switch careers
Another common myth is that apprenticeships are limited to trade jobs, but today, they span industries such as finance, IT, marketing, healthcare, and recruitment. Some assume that apprenticeships are a lower-value alternative to university degrees, but many apprenticeships lead to nationally recognised qualifications, with some even offering routes to degree-level education.
Members of our team have shared their experiences, highlighting the real benefits of hands-on learning in a professional environment. They’ve developed key communication skills, learning how to connect with people, understand their needs, and provide tailored solutions - essential abilities in a people-focused industry like recruitment.
In their daily roles, they’ve gained valuable sector knowledge, exploring different ways to advertise opportunities and understand work requirements. Others have noted significant improvements in time management and prioritisation, allowing them to plan their workload effectively while handling critical tasks such as compliance and data management.
Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, the structured training they’ve received has provided a strong foundation for long-term career growth. One team member highlighted how their learning experience deepened their understanding of key legislations, a crucial aspect when working with personal data in recruitment. Looking ahead, they see themselves continuing to develop, taking on greater responsibilities, and moving into leadership roles within Millbank.
I envision myself advancing within the organisation, continuing to build on the expertise I have developed, and contributing meaningfully to the success of the team
At Millbank, we are committed to supporting apprentices at all levels. That’s why we are looking for a school leaver to join our team as an Office Admin Apprentice. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the recruitment industry while developing key administrative and business skills. Working in a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will support our recruitment team, manage correspondence, assist with compliance processes, and develop their organisational abilities.
We believe that apprenticeships are an essential tool for building future talent. With structured learning, mentorship, and hands-on training, they offer a fantastic alternative to traditional education routes. Many apprentices progress into leadership roles, demonstrating that career progression through apprenticeships is not only possible but expected.
If you or someone you know is looking for an exciting opportunity to develop 'Skills For Life', we’d love to hear from you! See more on the 'Join Our Team' Page and Apply Today.
