Millbank staff and visitors will now benefit from the security of having a defibrillator on-site at our head office in Runcorn, Cheshire.
While we hope it never needs to be used, it will provide comfort to our staff and visitors and could one day save a life.
The move comes as part of Millbank’s ongoing commitment to boost the wellbeing of staff, following on from the successful launch of our staff gym in November 2019.
According to the British Heart Foundation, only 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This is primarily because there are not enough defibrillators readily available, and too few people prepared to perform CPR.
As well as ensuring we have a good number of first aid trained staff, Millbank have decided to bring an easy to use defibrillator on-site to maximise the chances of survival in the unlikely event of a cardiac arrest on the premises.
The defibrillator will also be registered with the North West Ambulance Service as well as the Circuit, which is the National Defibrillator Network established by the British Heart Foundation, so that it can be used by ambulance services in emergencies.
