By investing in low carbon hydrogen fuel to heat homes and power vehicles, thousands of jobs could be created says government.

Business and Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has unveiled government plans to create a thriving low carbon hydrogen sector in the UK over the next decade and beyond.

Kwasi said “Today marks the start of the UK’s hydrogen revolution. This home-grown clean energy source has the potential to transform the way we power our lives and will be essential to tackling climate change and reaching Net Zero.”

Hydrogen fuel is a uniquely abundant source of energy and is great for delivering our future zero carbon needs. It is a clean source of energy, with no adverse environmental impact as the by-products are simply heat and water.

As a result this low-carbon, versatile fuel can be used by cars, trucks and trains, heat our homes and generate the power needed for industrial processes such as steel production.
